FIFA U17 World Cup Nigeria 2009 - The Afermath...... : Which way Amodu?
on 2010/2/18 15:00:45 (66 reads)

The Nigerian Football Federation is apparently going to make a decision on The Super Eagles Chief Coach Shuaibu Amodu over the Weekend (7/8th Feb 2010) . All Nigerian Football Fans are eagerly awaiting the new direction (or not) that will be revealed to us after the meetings of the board and the technical committee have been concluded. Which direction will the NFF Take ?

There is a popular and real momentum gathering amongst fans towards showing the coach the door and starting afresh 4 months before the FIFA World Cup. A lot of nigerian fans just feel the coach is not up to the job and doesn't have the Technical Capacity to succeed.
In a democracy or indeed any form of organised politics where the Board of the NFF have to go through an election with a view to winning, they cannot entirely dicard popular opinion. it will be foolhardy and they'll do so at their peril.

Keeping Amodu on board is also an option some of the pragmatists amongt football fans are advocating for because of the little time available for a new man to make any significant impact on the players that will make a positive difference.

The NFF may win short term victory with the Fans and indeed if the right candidate is appointed maybe even win a re election.

If the NFF stick with Amodu, it will be a position they will need to justify to the Sports Ministry and Nigerian fans at every turn as this position appears quite unpopular right now.

What do you think ?

Coach Shuaibu Amodu, Chief Coach of the super Eagles should be given a lot of credit for feeling the pulse of the nation at key times during the selection process for the few places available in the super eagles and choosing the appropriate time toinject fresh players in the mix. Coach Shuaibu has invited Nigeria’s junior internationals at U17 level to join the Nigerian squad that is preparing for the Nations cup in Angola. Players like Sani Emmanuel, Stanley Okoro and Azeez Balogun have deserved their call up. Their chances of making the final squad some commentators have said are very slim but we’re hopeful at Clique sports that a couple of these young lads can squeeze into the final team and justify their inclusion.
